Workplace Bullying – What Every Employer Must Do

Bullying can take root within all workplaces. Bullying can take many forms and often remain undetected to everyone but its victims.
Employers have critical legal obligations to ensure a safe work environment and must be alert to the potential for bullying to occur. If left unchecked, bullying claims can cause workplaces to spiral out of control, and destroy employee morale and productivity. Amongst other things, workplace bullying can lead to workers compensation claims (and the resulting premium increases), extended sick leave, breach of contract claims, bullying or adverse action applications to the FWC, WHS complaints to the regulator, costly lump-sum negligence claims and a loss of corporate reputation.
