After more than a decade of planning, design refinement and approvals, Australia’s first indoor snow resort at Penrith is shovel-ready and moving through the capital raising process.
The $700 million private-sector investment project is delivering a new kind of tourism and lifestyle asset for Australia: a world-class, net-zero, all-weather destination combining snow sports, leisure, education and hospitality under one roof.
Winter Sports World will provide benefits for Western Sydney businesses and broader community even before it opens in 2028.
New Asset Class for Western Sydney
Winter Sports World isn’t just about skiing and snow play.
It’s about introducing a completely new industry sector to Western Sydney, one that intersects tourism, hospitality, sport, entertainment and sustainability on a global scale.
The design includes:
- A 300m indoor ski run, with advanced and beginner slopes
- The biggest snow play zone in the southern hemisphere
- A 200-room hotel and conference centre
- High-performance facilities for Olympic and Paralympic athletes
- Education, training and workforce pathways for local students and hospitality workers
Our mission is to make snow sports accessible year-round to local families and international visitors.
Economic Benefits Close to Home
Winter Sports World will inject $222 million annually ($2.5 billion over the first decade) into the local economy and create more than 2,700 jobs, half during construction and half ongoing roles once operational across hospitality, retail, logistics, maintenance, sport and education.
Beyond the direct workforce, local suppliers and businesses stand to benefit significantly.
We’ll be sourcing as much as possible from within the region, from trade and construction to food, beverage and professional services.
This is about keeping investment circulating within Western Sydney’s economy, supporting local SMEs and showcasing the capability of our region on the world stage.
The project will also serve as a magnet for tourism and conferences, drawing domestic and international visitors who will stay longer, spend locally and explore more broadly the adventure and lifestyle offerings that Penrith and the Blue Mountains provide.
Sustainability at the core
Winter Sports World will be net-zero from Day 1 of operation.
The resort will use chemical-free snowmaking, heat-recovery systems, solar energy and advanced thermal insulation to minimise its footprint, demonstrating that world-class tourism and sustainability can, and should, co-exist.
A shared regional opportunity
With Western Sydney International Airport just 12km away, the timing couldn’t be better.
The airport will open Western Sydney to the world, and projects like ours will give visitors a reason to come, stay, play and spend in the region.
Winter Sports World is more than a tourism asset; it’s a confidence project.
It signals what’s possible when private investment, government support and community ambition align.
Western Sydney has been waiting for its moment to lead Australia’s next era of visitor economy growth.
That moment is now.
