Writing compelling, engaging, strategic copy in the digital space is a unique skill. And that’s why we have a team of expert digital storytellers at Brilliant Digital – we know how fundamental powerful storytelling is to creating a successful business.

Each piece of content we write consistently delivers the clear and compelling brand message behind your business.

Get to know your customer's problems

The first thing we seek to discover is who your ideal customer is, what problems they have, and how you can solve them.

Once we understand how your target audience thinks, and why they make decisions, we can build the core brand message. This message can then be woven through every story we tell.

    Tell the four stories

We tell 4 key stories that we layer through your website – the customer story, the business story, the product story and the personal stories. And each of these comes back to solving your customer’s problem.

    Create an emotional connection

People make decisions, no matter how logical, based on emotion.

Stories provide entertainment as well as information. And they work for every type of business.

    Compelling copy is key

The way we approach writing compelling copy is to pretend that we’re reading the website from the prospect’s perspective.

Every story we write must be beautifully written, simple and without jargon. It must be relatable and create an emotional connection.

    Show the transformational journey

A dry list of bullet points can present the features your customers are after. But it can’t show the benefits or trigger an emotional connection to your business.

A story, however, can show how your product has transformed someone’s life. Your prospects can see what that journey looked like and how your product provided the solution.

    The importance of strategy

When you have strategic consistency across all of your collateral, on all platforms, you will be able to get your brand message across successfully.

That’s why we adhere to a proven strategic framework for our storytelling.

This consistent message is really valuable for our clients because it means that our websites and ongoing marketing will attract the right kind of qualified lead. It stops time wasters and saves you money.

With powerful storytelling as the tool, we bridge the gap between you and your customers…

The content gets momentum and continues to deliver results long after it’s loaded onto the site, with SEO and Google traffic. Our stories keep going back to your core brand message and deliver a return on investment and brand growth, time and time again.

Find out how powerful digital storytelling can transform your business.

    Embracing change, becoming better leaders

In this time of accelerating change, we’re seeing transformations in our products, services, experiences – and also in the business operating models that underpin them.

At the Macquarie Perspective event held in June, Emergent CEO Holly Ransom described the shift from efficiency to effectiveness in successful businesses. From standard processes and ‘command and control’ hierarchies to crowdsourcing, empowerment and autonomy.

We’re now focusing on outcomes, not outputs – and leading small, nimble teams willing to embrace variability within guardrails, rather than large monoliths.

So, what does this mean for the way we lead?

Ovo completes on schedule as Sydney’s newest village takes shape

Landcom and Mirvac Group (Mirvac) today announced the completion of OVO at Green Square, with more than 600 residents set to call the landmark building home.

This milestone was celebrated with a ceremony attended by NSW Minister for Planning and Housing Anthony Roberts, Landcom CEO, John Brogden, Mirvac CEO and Managing Director, Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz and Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp (FJMT) design director, Richard Francis-Jones.

Mr Roberts unveiled a commemorative plaque for the building, which is the second Landcom and Mirvac building to be completed at Green Square, following the completion of Ebsworth in early 2017.

Mr Brogden said the completion of the flagship OVO building was a great example of a successful urban renewal project that had transformed a former industrial area into an attractive, sought after community.

“Landcom has been given a new mandate from the NSW Government - to take a lead role in improving the supply, diversity and affordability of new housing in Sydney and NSW,” Mr Brogden said.

“Landcom is meeting this commitment by working with government agencies and private sector companies, such as Mirvac, to deliver a range of housing types that are sustainable, innovative and attractive places to live at various price points across Sydney.

“Landcom looks forward to working with Mirvac on the next stage of Green Square Town Centre, which will provide even more housing choices for future residents.”

Designed by FJMT in partnership with Mirvac Design, OVO features a distinctive ellipsoid-shaped tower taking advantage of the prime views of the city and beyond. The stunning façade of the building has one of the most complex colour, detail and manufacturing systems Mirvac has delivered, including approximately 1,800 panels in 134 different shapes and 17 different colours.

Mirvac’s CEO and Managing Director, Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz said: “The completion of OVO represents the culmination of visionary design and construction to deliver a landmark building that will be home to more than 600 new Green Square residents.

“Mirvac’s vision is to reimagine urban life and OVO is testament to that. It is an iconic building that transforms the skyline and is the result of extensive planning and collaboration between Landcom, City of Sydney, FJMT and Mirvac.”

OVO’s 224 apartments contribute to a total of 302 apartments that have been delivered across three buildings on this site. OVO is the gateway to the heart of the Green Square Town Centre, on the corner of Bourke Street and Ebsworth Street.

Green Square’s high street along Ebsworth Street now features a 2,000 square metre Woolworths supermarket and The Social Corner - a community space and cafe. The Social Corner is the venue for an ongoing events and activation series run by Green Square’s dedicated Place Manager, designed to foster resident connections as the community grows.

Just a short walk to the Green Square Train Station, OVO is linked to the Sydney CBD and beyond by an extensive public transport network, offering residents complete ‘walkability’ of this highly-connected location.

Later this year, the City of Sydney will open the civic plaza and library, with more amenities, such as parks and an aquatic centre, set to open in the coming years. This has followed the completion of a $32 million community and cultural precinct, complete with a three-storey creative centre, which opened in May 2018.

Mirvac and Landcom are successfully building a strong community at Green Square with the completion of the first two developments.

In celebration of Local Government Week City of Parramatta Council are offering free guided tours to local businesses and residents.

Councils provide invaluable services to local communities 365 days a year, though the breadth and diversity of the work undertaken can at times go unrecognised.

Local Government Week (30 July to 5 August 2018) provides the perfect opportunity to promote the importance of councils to the whole community.

On Monday 30 July, Visitor Services will host a 2-hour local government information tour for local businesses and residents, culminating at the Parramatta Heritage and Visitor Information Centre for a presentation by Research and Collection Services.

The presentation will share the interesting contributions of past Mayors of our city. A short film will also be screened, drawn from 16mm film footage held in the Council Archives, taken by William ‘Bill’ Andrews OBE (1908-1988).

Bill Andrews was the town planner at Parramatta through the 1950s. Brilliant, imaginative and ambitious, Andrews laid the foundations for the city’s pioneering Town Planning Scheme, designed and implemented one of the first central traffic systems in Australia, and oversaw the construction of the new Parramatta City Council Chambers. Andrews was also an avid amateur film maker, and the film footage he captured around Parramatta represents a fascinating glimpse into life in the city, as it was.

We’re all aware of the direct costs associated with workers’ compensation insurance, however it’s the indirect costs that also impact your business when an injury arises. Workers’ compensation costs can be controlled and reduced through three key considerations….

    1. Many injuries are preventable

The most effective way to reduce workers compensation costs is to reduce or eliminate injuries from occurring in the first place. Although it may sound challenging, this can be achieved with some simple strategies…

    • Stop injuries coming through your door with effective pre-employment medical screening.
    • Undertake injury risk profiling to identify why and where injuries are occurring within your business.
    • Create a positive workplace culture – workers exhibiting warning signs of not coping at work should be supported with proactive health and well-being strategies to help them better manage financial, health and emotional effects.

    2. Early intervention is key

Unfortunately, not all injuries are preventable. If an injury has occurred, employers must ensure that the injured worker is supported to either remain at or return to safe and sustainable work.

An effective early intervention framework is crucial to reduce the impact of injuries to your business. Early intervention practices have proven to be more effective in fostering a happy and healthy workplace as it promotes a workplace that is supportive and committed to the health and wellbeing of its workforce. This in turn generally supports improved productivity and employee morale.

Research also supports that with early intervention, workers are more likely to be back at work within 6 months, and 50% more likely to return to work at 12 months.

So what are the key elements to effective Early Intervention…

    1. Early Intervention begins before an injury occurs.

    2. Prompt reporting of injuries is critical – early reporting of injuries result in less expensive claims.

    3. Ensure that you have an effective Return to Work (RTW) program including early access to evidence-based interventions delivered by experts.

    4. Flexible workplace solutions including the provision of Suitable Duties.

    Why invest in Early intervention…

Under an Early Intervention model, less time off work results in less wage reimbursements, and further indirect savings such as improved productivity. When factoring in the reduced costs for time off work, the overall benefit to cost ratio is approximately seven. This means that for every dollar invested the ROI is approximately $7 – a significant savings to your business!

Managing a workforce, regardless of the size of your business, is a balancing act between costs and employee wellbeing. However, when that balance is achieved, the benefits go well beyond the bottom line.

    3. Simple tips for consideration

    • BE PROACTIVE!
    • Ensure line managers are provided education and ongoing support.
    • Invest in evidence-based strategies with a proven record in effectively reducing and managing injuries.
    • If RTW resourcing or experience within your business is a concern, consider outsourcing the role of RTW Coordinator.
    • Consider appointing a preferred Rehabilitation Provider whom in time and partnership understands your business, as depending upon your premium scheme, their RTW services are often provided at no additional cost to your business.

Thousands of residents will now benefit from a new 21st century library and community centre, after it was officially opened today at Oran Park Town.

Landcom Chief Executive Officer John Brogden and Greenfields Director Mark Perich joined the Minister for Planning and Housing Anthony Roberts, The Member for Camden Chris Patterson and Camden Council Mayor Lara Symkowiak to celebrate the opening at a community fun day.

Mr Brogden said the library and community resource centre was the latest facility delivered by Landcom and its project partner Greenfields Development Company as part of the Oran Park Town project.

“Many people would remember Oran Park as a racetrack, but it has undergone a dramatic transformation over the past decade into one of the fastest growing towns in Sydney,” Mr Brogden said.

“Landcom prepared a masterplan to guide delivery of Oran Park Town and Landcom is also responsible for delivering a number of major public facilities.

“The library is the latest piece of community infrastructure, with several parks already open and more to come, such as a leisure centre, skate park, parkour facility and basketball courts.

“It is great to be here today to see the library open its doors to the public after years of hard work and planning, and this facility is a fantastic example of a 21st century library.

“The library was a collaborative effort between the council, Landcom and architects Brewster Hjorth and is designed to be a fun place of knowledge and learning, and its facilities are interactive, which encourages collaboration.

“This project is a great example of what can be achieved through long-term planning, and Landcom, Greenfields Development Company, and Camden Council have worked hard together to achieve great things for this community.”

Mr Perich said the library and community resource centre was located in the heart of Oran Park Town and formed an integral part of the Civic Precinct, a unique master planned centre that included the recently opened council building, a shopping centre, commercial space and a smart work hub.

“The library is designed in zones to enable different stages of learning, and includes performance spaces, interactive screens and walls, and folding doors to open the building to outside activities,” Mr Perich said.

“The library’s interior design celebrates the town’s history as a race track, incorporating artworks made from car and motorcycle parts and grid motifs on the carpet and walls.”

The 2,500m2 multi-purpose library building also includes a community resource centre, providing of a new place for people and community groups to meet. The facility was built by ADCO Constructions and includes sustainable items, such as a 90,000 litre rainwater tank.

It was delivered as part of a Voluntary Planning Agreement that will fund more than $200 million of essential infrastructure to ensure Oran Park Town is a cohesive and attractive community.

Oran Park Town is one of the largest master planned communities in NSW, and will provide 10,000 lots for 30,000 residents over the next 20 years. Landcom has delivered 2,700 lots and Greenfields will deliver more than 7,000 lots.
